UC Merced Alumni Regent Announcement

June 22, 2021
UC Merced Students

For the first time in our campus’ history, a UC Merced alum will have the opportunity to shape and influence the University of California by serving as a voting member of the UC Board of Regents.

As part of the Board of Regents, four elected alumni representing all 10 campuses serve two-year terms on a rotating basis. As the newest campus of the UC system, our alma mater will receive the opportunity to select an esteemed alum to serve in this capacity beginning July 2022 through June 2024.

The selected representative will also serve as an officer of the Alumni Associations of UC (AAUC) Board--comprised of alumni leaders from each campus and alumni associations. In their first year, the representative will hold the title of UC Alumni Regent-designate, and serve as the AAUC Treasurer from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. In their second year, the representative will hold the title of UC Alumni Regent, and serve as the AAUC Vice President from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.

Over the course of the next several months, a Selection Oversight Committee, comprised of key campus representatives, partners, and appointed alumni, will lead the process of selecting the first UC Merced Alumni Regent. Additional information about the committee, timeline, and process are available online here. Applications for this prestigious position will be available starting July 1 and close August 31.

As members of the UC Merced Alumni Association, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity. If there are any questions regarding the process, responsibilities, expectations, or timeline pertaining to the volunteer position, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@ucmerced.edu. Several resources are also readily available online to all alumni interested in the position here.
