UC Merced Traditions

Fall Traditions

Annual Scholars Lane Bridge Crossing

In 2005, UC Merced’s inaugural class proudly walked over Scholars Lane Bridge, ceremonially entering a new phase of their lives. Each year, incoming students continue the tradition and eagerly cross the bridge to begin their UC Merced experience. Continuing students, faculty and staff welcome the new students at the top of the Scholars Lane Bridge — the official welcome ceremony and start of the new academic year. Participants enjoy the opportunity to connect with UC community members immediately following the ceremony.

Parent-Family Weekend

What better time to invite your family back to campus than for Parent-Family Weekend? Enjoy a full weekend of activities and highlight your new “home away from home.”

A Growing Tradition! Work with your favorite students groups to coordinate an event for students and alumni during next year's Homecoming 2012. Contact if you're interested in pitching an event or program idea.

Winter Ball

Don't forget to bring back your formal suits and dresses after Thanksgiving break! Winter Ball is an elegant evening of dinner and dancing brought to you by the Student Programming Board and the Office of Student Life.
