On June 20, 2011, UC Merced's first pilot UCMAA Chapter activity occurred in Washington, D.C. with five alumni.
On April 21, 2012, the UCMAA DC Chapter was officially approved by the UCMAA Board and became UC Merced's first official Chapter.
The UCMAA DC Chapter serves to:
A) Foster and maintain strong relationships between the Chapter's members and the UC Merced
B) Promote leadership and a spirit of citizenship amongst all UC Merced alumni
C) Act as a conduit for the exchange of information and ideas between UC Merced and DC alumni
D) Aid in the advancement of the University
E) Serve as a network that works towards the building of a strong foundation for UC Merced's students
